Little Leaf Linden makes good firewood? Carving wood?

I have a huge tree that needs to come down for new construction. Should I just have the city take it down and remove it? Does it make good firewood? Are there other purposes for this wood? Carving, etc?

Linden Trees are not the greatest firewood species, but when properly seasoned they are a great choice for spring or fall fires. In terms of the value of a linden tree, they can be used for carving. The problem with this, of course, is finding an artist or carver in need of some materials.
